Let me host your tasting for your wedding menu

I was just at my high school reunion, and in the realm of lawyers, accountants and various other graduate level work, I felt lonely being the one who works in hospitality. I felt exposed, and thought I may be looked down on for being in the service industry. Of course, I was wrong. They thought it was invigorating that someone was doing something different. You know what? They’re right. You know what another fun thing about this business is for me? When a bride and groom say “I want people to remember my wedding.” They want to see memorable food and have service that has been made to fit their dreams.

The tasting is the first real piece of the relationship between myself and the family. It is when I get to put our skill on display and demonstrate that, “yes, that thing you want? You can trust that we will execute it to what you would like it to be.”

I recently had Melanie & Ed in for a tasting, with Melanie’s mother, Kim coming with them. I could tell they were excited and that makes me feel great.

Upon entering they were greeted with a charcuterie table with local Conebella Dairy Farm Cheese and Boar’s Head meats. After a champagne toast, to – well – the fun of the next two hours, we shared in a raw bar to give a sampling of what we suggested for the couple.

We worked through the menu I made specifically for them and we had fun.

Truly, that’s why I wanted to write this up. It was a moment of me being on my game and having fun doing so. That’s why I am in this business. I enjoy myself when I am working. Its something I always wanted, and I am so fortunate to be in a profession I love. When people are excited about what we are doing, we simply have the best time.

Check out the tasting menu that we made up for the couple.
